While walking through Reynier Village one day, admiring the beautiful spring gardens and architectural details of the 1930's homes, Deni and Elisa came up with the idea of starting a blog (an easy way to exchange idea on the Internet), to celebrate the sense of pride in our neighborhood that our community is demonstrating. |
Please log on and post comments, let us know what you are doing to remodel or paint your houses, to take care of your gardens, to conserve energy.
Share information on how to replace water-hungry grass lawns with drought-tolerant plants, grow organic fruits and vegetables in your backyard, save water and install alternative sources of electricity.
We’d like to hear from our neighbors. http://reyniervillage.wordpress.com |
The RVNA Mission Our goal is to create a safe neighborhood where neighbors know and look out for each other and feel a sense of community.
Here are some of the things we've done to help achieve our goals:
- Hired APS to patrol our neighborhood.
- Worked with CPAB (Community Police Advisory Board) to form Neighborhood Watch groups.
- Worked with NRSC (No Robertson Strip Club) and leaders from our neighboring communities.to fight the SKIN strip club that opened in our adjacent area.
- Built a website as a resource for our residents. Here neighbors can network and keep informed of what's going on.
- Posted Reynier Village Community signs at our borders to identify our area and show neighborhood pride.
- Hosted four summers of Park Nights in Reynier Park.
- Hosted Easter and Halloween parties in the park and worked Councilman Herb Wesson to host a successful 'Movies in the Park' night.
- Worked with A Million Trees LA and KYCC (Korean Youth Community Center) to get free trees planted in our parkways.
- Connected with LAPD, our Councilman's office and SORONC (South Robertson Neighborhood Council) to keep the neighborhood informed and alerted to issues concerning Reynier Village.
- Created the Reynier Village Home and Garden blog to share tips on home improvements, energy conservation, vegetable gardens.
We would like to thank our Board Members, Block Captains and all who have volunteered to help us grow. We all live here and care about our neighborhood!
